This is the SGG ---the straight big brother to the BGG. It is 9 1/2 inches and 10 ounces of heavy-duty convex-edged belt knife. The full-tang blade is 440C-equivalent stainless steel, 4 1/2 inches long, ground from .195" stock (.1875" is 3/16"), and left with a glowing brush finish.
The SGG's grip slabs are layered green and black Micarta, shaped for the gripping hand just like the BGG --- a handle you can lean on. The layout puts the point right out straight ahead and the broad blade with its curved edge sets up for serious cutting, with the index finger securely tucked away in its own groove.
For most any outdoor work, the SSG shines --- it will take apart a carcass as if there were zippers, it will provide the makings of a fire, slice up stuff for lunch and even spread butter or mayo quickly and neatly (the blade is broad enough.) The SSG is a serious knife.
